Coral Trout plectropomus leopardus

The Coral Trout is a beautiful fish that many anglers overlook. Typically, the body is a vibrant red to a greenish brown. The upper two-thirds of the head and body as well as the median fins are covered with significant small, dark-edged spots. The median rays located on the caudal fin have a unique white margin that creates a beautiful contrast.

One of the things that make the Coral Trout so fun is that the color will change depending on the time of day, the type of activity being pursued by the fish, and its surrounding environment. This is a nice size trout that is found primarily in the northwest portion of Western Australia.
