It was my first saltwater fishing trip of the year, and I couldn't wait to get out on the water. The tide would be coming in about 10:00 a.m. and the summer flounder, I thought, would be biting well. But we arrived late at the beach house where we'd be staying for the weekend, and I quickly drove to the dock, applied sunscreen, and jumped into the boat.
The fluke were hungry that day, a day that became so hot later on that I removed my shirt. It wasn't until late in the afternoon, when I sat in the car to drive back to the beach
